Terra Horizon

Tall mountains, roads between towns, and a warm kitchen to come home to.

Terra Horizon [Forge] is a Forge 1.20.1 modpack for a long-term survival world that mixes adventure and cozy living. Tectonic shapes the land into tall mountain ranges, deep valleys and wide coastlines. RoadWeaver builds roads between villages and structures, so there’s always a path to the next settlement. Dungeons, ruins, towers and boss arenas are spread across the Overworld, the Nether, the End and beyond. Back home you can cook with Farmer’s Delight and its add-ons, farm through four seasons with Serene Seasons, decorate with the Macaw’s suite and keep your loot in drawers and backpacks.

This edition is built around the big Forge adventure mods: The Twilight Forest, L_Ender’s Cataclysm, Alex’s Mobs and Alex’s Caves, Iron’s Spells ‘n Spellbooks, Electroblob’s Wizardry Redux, Terramity, Aquamirae and Bosses of Mass Destruction, alongside When Dungeons Arise, the YUNG’s structure mods and Towns and Towers. Incendium is the single Nether overhaul and Unusual End the single End overhaul. There is no Create. Distant Horizons lets you see mountains many kilometres away, Complementary Reimagined and Solas shaders run through Oculus and Embeddium, and an FTB Quests book with 152 quests is there as an optional guide; you never have to follow it.

Note: the Forge edition is an early preview (0.3.0-preview). Expect balance changes and possibly world-breaking updates before 1.0. Back up your worlds.

Recommended Specs

Memory allocated to Minecraft: 8 GB (please don’t allocate more than 10 GB)
System RAM: 16 GB or more recommended
GPU: A dedicated GPU is recommended for shaders and Distant Horizons
Java: Handled automatically by the CurseForge app

Allocating too much memory can make garbage collection pauses longer and cause stutter. 8 GB is the sweet spot for this pack.

Low FPS? Turn off shaders (K toggles them; O opens the shader menu), lower the Distant Horizons LOD distance, or keep vanilla render distance around 8-12. For instant far LODs you can pre-generate chunks with Chunky: /chunky radius 3000 (or any radius in blocks), then /chunky start.

Distant Horizons: the pack ships Distant Horizons 3.3.2 as its only distant-terrain renderer. Far LODs fill in as you explore or pre-generate; the first visit to a new area can take a moment.

FAQ

Is this the same pack as the Fabric edition?
No. Terra Horizon [Forge] is a separate edition with its own mod list. Worlds are not interchangeable between the Fabric and Forge editions; start a new world for each.

Do I have to follow the quests?
No. The FTB Quests book is an optional guide and rewards collection; nothing is locked behind it.

Is there magic?
Yes. Iron’s Spells ‘n Spellbooks and Electroblob’s Wizardry Redux add full spell systems, alongside enchanting (Enchanting Infuser, EMI Enchants) and Artifacts.

Is Create included?
No. This edition deliberately leaves out Create and Create-based structure packs.

Can I turn off shaders or Distant Horizons?
Yes. Toggle shaders with K or choose "OFF" in the shader menu (O). Distant Horizons has its own settings, including its render distance and an on/off switch.

How do the seasons work?
Serene Seasons cycles through Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. Hover over seeds to see which seasons they grow in. Out of season they grow very slowly, so plan a greenhouse for Winter. Craft a Calendar to see the current season.

Does it use Sinytra Connector or Fabric mods?
No. Every mod in this edition is a native Forge build.

Can I add or remove mods?
Yes, it’s your instance. Removing worldgen mods from an existing world can break it, though, so always back up first.

How do I update?
Update through the CurseForge app, and back up your world first. While the edition is in preview, updates may change worldgen.

Is there a server pack?
Yes, a preview server pack is provided with Forge 47.4.28 and start scripts. Simple Voice Chat is included.
