An open-world anime RPG for NeoForge 1.21.1, inspired by the Overlord light novels and anime. Walk a living New World of walled cities, guilds, monsters and gods, learn hundreds of spells, raise servants, and found a kingdom of your own.

Fan-made, unofficial and non-commercial. Overlord belongs to Kugane Maruyama / Madhouse. This mod is not affiliated with them.

Features

Magic: 500+ spells, tiers I to X and Universal

• A data-driven catalogue of spells across dozens of schools, learned from scrolls and studied in the in-game Grimoire (key R).
• Real magic circles that grow with the spell’s tier, geometric sigils, beams, a black hole, reality slash, nuclear blast and more.
• Mages in the world carry an Arcane Grimoire and open their own circles when they cast.

An open world of lands, monsters and bosses

• 11 named regions with recommended levels, discovery XP and their own monsters, chiefs and bosses.
• Anime landmarks that appear as you explore: the village of Carne, the walls of E-Rantel and its Adventurers’ Guild, the gate of Nazarick, the Pontiffs’ Council Chamber and the Temple of the Six Gods.
• The Skull Dragon, a bone-white boss with its own boss bar, and elemental skeleton horses (fire, ice, storm, shadow) you can summon and ride.
• The Slane Theocracy’s Pontiffs and the Six Gods: powerful named characters with elemental techniques and magic circles.

Adventurers’ Guild, coins and daily life

• 8 guild ranks from Copper to Adamantite, a mission board, bounties, boss and dungeon missions, and party play.
• Copper, silver and gold coins, shops, inns, a magic shop, a stable (horse, caravan cart, trade boat) and hireable workers.
• New gear: mithril and orichalcum ingots, swords and armour sets, and guild plates.

Towns that live

• Independent nations build walled cities with markets, shops, a smithy, bakery, library, stable, barracks and training grounds, in nine architectural styles (timber, stone, sand, nordic, dark, elven, dwarven, jungle, swamp).
• Citizens go home at night, guards patrol, recruits train, and adventurers of every rank leave on missions and bring wealth back.
• Nations have limited resources, treasuries, debt, trade caravans and diplomacy, and think for themselves: alliances, wars, hunger, bankruptcy.

Citizens with character: 108 skills

• Ordinary people reach at most level 7 (a rare few reach 10). Each has none, one or two skills, rarely three; the stronger the skill, the rarer it is.
• Stat boosts, on-hit effects, reactions to wounds, auras, death effects and faster work. Right-click a citizen to read their skills.

Your own kingdom

• Place a Kingdom Heart, build, recruit, hire, defend, spy, besiege and vassalise.
• Undead servants with levels 1 to 100 (150 for rare souls), summon keys, Nazarick guardians and the battle maids.

Languages

Full English and French. The mod switches with your game language.

Getting started

1. Install NeoForge for Minecraft 1.21.1 and drop the jar into your mods folder.
2. Create a world and press R to open the Grimoire. Join the Guild with /overlord guild join.
3. Found your kingdom with a Kingdom Heart or /overlord create. Browse /overlord for every command.

Good to know

• Server-side features (kingdoms, guild, economy) work in single player and on servers; install the mod on both sides for multiplayer.
• Settings, including performance options, are in the config file (overlord_ek).
• An optional resource pack is included for extra visuals.
• This is a large mod under active development: please report bugs with your log.
