A mod for Minecraft Java Edition 1.20.1 — Forge

Giant insects inhabit forests, grasslands, deserts, and caves! Battle them, collect materials, or bring home eggs to raise and tame your own companions.

Species-Specific Habitats

Each creature appears in a suitable environment: beetles in forests, moths in flower-rich grasslands, scorpions in deserts, dragonflies near water, and centipedes underground. Regular insects can also spawn 4–12 blocks away from players.

Giant Hornet Nests

Medium-sized giant hornet nests generate on trees in forests and other suitable wooded biomes. Hitting, interacting with, or breaking a nest can release 3–5 hornets that attack the player who disturbed it.

Breaking the nest’s central block drops 12 honey bottles and some paper. Each nest contains a limited number of hornets and does not refill once empty.

Nests generate only in newly generated areas.

Raise and Tame Insects

Use shears to collect wild eggs and bring them home. Feed the hatched larvae Ant Nectar to raise them into companions.

Tamed insects can follow you or wait in place, and Ant Nectar can heal them. Tamed moths spread beneficial scales that grant nearby allies Regeneration I and Speed I.

Insect Battles and Drops

Giant dragonflies and giant hornets are hostile toward each other. Defeated larvae drop slimeballs.

Infestation System Removed

The infestation system is no longer present in version 0.36.1.

Infected blocks and the spreading mechanic have been removed. Any infected blocks remaining in older worlds are replaced with regular moss blocks when loaded.

Multiplayer

Update both the server and every player’s client to version 0.36.1.
