Defeat mighty bosses and raise your own loyal companions!

Boss Companions allows players to claim rare boss essence and summon adorable, loyal companions upon defeating powerful vanilla bosses. Each companion features custom 3D models, smooth animations, unique combat mechanics, and supportive buffs to assist you in your adventures.

This is an unofficial, fully-tested Fabric port for Minecraft 1.21.1, faithfully recreating all original features, fixing event triggers, and providing out-of-the-box multilingual support.

Companion Drop Source Summon Method Taming Item Unique Abilities & Features
Wardling Warden Right-click ground with Warden’s Essence Echo Shard Sturdy melee protector featuring custom digging/emerging entrance animations.
Witherite Wither Right-click ground with Withered Totem Wither Rose Upon defeating a mob, automatically summons a floating Witherite Head to attack nearby foes.
Guardian’s Hatchling Elder Guardian Place Guardian’s Egg, break it or right-click with raw cod Raw Cod Shift + Right-Click: Grants Water Breathing and Dolphin’s Grace for 60s (30s cooldown).
Ender Hatchling Ender Dragon Right-click ground with Crystalized Ender Dragon’s Heart Ender Pearl Shift + Right-Click: Grants Dragon’s Flight (continuous forward glide propulsion while using Elytra) and Slow Falling for 60s (30s cooldown).
Mini Spud Crafted Item Right-click ground with Spudling Potato Feed it Poisonous Potatoes to empower, enlarge, and buff its stats.
Healing Biscuit Crafted Item Right-click on your injured companion — Instantly restores 15% max health with heart particle effects.

  • Spudling: 8x Poisonous Potato surrounding 1x Nether Star
  • Healing Biscuit: 1x Sugar + 2x Wheat + 1x Beef + 1x Sweet Berries

📋 Requirements & Installation

  1. Ensure you have Minecraft 1.21.1 running on Fabric Loader (>= 0.15.0) with Java 21.
  2. Install the latest Fabric API for 1.21.1.
  3. Place boss_companions-1.0.2-fabric-1.21.1.jar into your .minecraft/mods folder.
  4. Launch your game and enjoy your new companions!

💡 Improvements in this Port

  • Guaranteed Boss Drops: Hooked into both death events and entity unload logic to ensure Ender Dragon and other bosses reliably drop their unique items.
  • Improved Spawning Coordinates: Elevated drop spawn heights and added slight upward velocity to prevent items from clipping into blocks or uneven terrain.
  • Multilingual Support: Built-in English (en_us) and Simplified Chinese (zh_cn) localizations.
