Set Sail

A tall ship for Minecraft that is a moving place, not just a vehicle.
Raise the sails, take the helm, and walk the deck while she runs.

Sailing

• Three sail settings – furled, half, full. She builds speed slowly and carries her way like a real ship.
• Take the helm – right-click the wheel and steer standing up. Turning rate follows your speed, but she will still pivot at a standstill.
• Back her out – hold back with the sails furled for a slow astern. Handy in tight water.
• Drop anchor with the same key and she stays put.

The whole ship is walkable

You can walk the deck while the ship is moving, not just sit in a seat.

• Main deck, forecastle, and the quarterdeck aft
• Below into the cabin – the door opens and closes
• Up the mast rigging to the crow’s nest
• Out along the bowsprit to stand at the very tip
• Rails are solid, so you stay aboard through a turn
• Fell in? Swim up and right-click the hull to climb aboard

Anchor and gangway

Bring her alongside, drop anchor, and a gangway swings out to the shore on its own. Walk ashore, come back, weigh anchor, and it stows itself. No extra controls – just the anchor.

Make her yours

Place blocks on deck, four levels high, and they sail with you.

• Chests, barrels and shulker boxes hold your cargo
• Furnaces, blast furnaces and smokers actually smelt
• Crafting table, brewing stand, anvil, stonecutter, smithing table, loom, cartography table all open
• Bell rings, jukebox plays your records
• Wall torches and hanging lanterns light the ship at night – they snap to the actual walls and ceilings of the hull
• Blocks face the way you place them, and turn with the ship

Pack the ship back into an item and the cargo comes with it – put her down again and everything is where you left it.

Livestock

Lead animals and villagers aboard, or use a spawn egg right on the deck. They ride along with the ship.

Take to the sky

Build the airship upgrade and the ship you already sail becomes an airship. Nothing is left behind – your cargo, the blocks you placed on deck, your crew and your animals all come with you.

• One key toggles between sail and flight. The sails furl, the rotors spin up, and away you go
• The helm you already know – same steering, with four power settings instead of sail settings
• Rise and descend with their own keys, up to the build limit
• No fuel, and no falling. Let go of the controls and she simply holds her altitude
• Hover lock parks her in mid-air, the same key as the anchor
• Set down on flat ground and the gangway lowers to the earth, just like coming alongside a quay
• Back on the water, switch to sail and she is a ship again

Multiplayer

Built for sailing together. One player at the helm, the rest free to move about the ship. Crew, cargo and animals all stay put through turns and full speed.

Requirements

• Minecraft Java Edition 26.1.2
• NeoForge 26.1.2.94 or later
• Install on both server and client for multiplayer
• No resource pack needed

The airship upgrade:

Known limitations

• The enchanting table gets no bookshelf bonus aboard
• Redstone circuits, and hopper/dispenser automation, do not run – containers hold items only
• Torch and lantern light may not show with rendering-replacement mods such as Sodium
• Animals left on deck stay behind when you pack the ship away
• The airship upgrade cannot be removed once applied – you can still switch back to sail whenever you are on water
• The mast rigging is out of use while the rotors are turning – switch to sail to climb to the crow’s nest
