Canopy Scale

Give your Minecraft forests a towering new look with taller vanilla trees and larger, wider canopies.

Canopy Scale randomly enlarges trees to 1.5× or 2× their normal scale, while keeping ordinary trunks one block wide. Low shrubs become taller trees, and raised canopies create more space to explore beneath the leaves.

Tree showcase — left to right

Each showcase image compares three trees of the same type:

• Left: A supersized tree grown from nine saplings planted in a 3×3 square, featuring a thick 3×3 trunk and an enormous canopy.
• Middle: A naturally generated Canopy Scale tree, with a taller trunk and a larger canopy at a randomly chosen 1.5× or 2× scale.
• Right: The original vanilla tree that Canopy Scale replaces.

The images show how both naturally generated trees and nine-sapling giants compare with their vanilla counterparts.

Grow supersized trees

Plant nine saplings of the same species in a 3×3 square:

Let them grow naturally or use bonemeal where supported. Leave plenty of room above and around them!

These giant trees feature a 3×3 trunk, fourfold tree scaling and a huge canopy. All nine saplings are consumed when the tree successfully grows.

No crafting recipe or special saplings required—use vanilla saplings.

Tree harvesting and faster leaf decay

Canopy Scale uses vanilla logs and naturally decaying leaves, allowing tree harvesting and faster leaf decay mods to work with its generated trees.

• Connected trunks and branches support whole-tree harvesting.
• Leaves can decay naturally after their supporting wood is removed.
• Includes additional compatibility for Tree Harvester to recognize exceptionally tall trees.
• Works with faster leaf decay mods such as Leaves Be Gone.

Your harvesting mod’s tool requirements, controls and settings still apply. Other mods may impose their own tree size limits. These improvements apply to newly generated or freshly grown trees.

Installation

Choose the file matching your mod loader: Fabric, Quilt, Forge or NeoForge.

Each loader’s file covers Minecraft Java 26.1, 26.1.2, 26.2 and 26.3. Install only the file for your loader.

Explore new chunks or grow fresh saplings to see Canopy Scale’s trees in your world!

Coming Soon — Custom Giant Trees

Currently in development: Create giant trees by planting saplings in your own patterns within a maximum 50×50-block area.

Your sapling layout will determine the tree’s trunk shape and size, with a proportionately sized canopy to match. From unusual shapes to enormous woodland landmarks, you’ll have more freedom to create trees that suit your builds.

These custom trees will be for creativity and decoration only. Destroying them will drop no wood, twigs, leaves or saplings.

This feature is planned for a future update and is not available in the current release.
