Tooltips improved

Tooltips Improved makes Minecraft tooltips easier to read and more useful.

Client-side only, with no required dependencies. Fabric API is not needed.

Exact durability. See how many uses an item has left.

Equipment comparison. See how armor, weapons and tools compare to what you have equipped. Enchantments aren’t compared yet.

Content previews. See what’s in an item without opening it: a book’s first page, a map, a banner or shield pattern, or a firework’s explosions.

Also included

Scrolling. Move tooltips that run off the screen with the mouse wheel or Page Up/Down. Hold Left Alt to move them sideways. Scrollable lists keep working as usual.

Text wrapping. Long lines wrap to fit beside your cursor, on the screen, at half the screen width, or at a width you choose. Colors are kept.

Smarter placement. A tooltip that doesn’t fit beside the cursor moves above, below or to a corner, so it doesn’t cover what you’re hovering. Very tall tooltips show their top first.

Shorter armor trims. Three lines become one, like Sentry Armor Trim (Iron). Hold Shift to see the full lines.

Custom look. Make the background see-through and remove the gap under an item’s name.

Setup

Supports: Fabric, Forge and NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1, 1.21.11, 26.2 and 26.3.

Settings: Open them from Mod Menu on Fabric (optional) or the Config button in the mod list on Forge and NeoForge. You can also edit config/tooltipsimproved.json. Keys can be changed under Controls → Inventory.
