LuckPerms – Legacy Forge (1.12.2) Port

LuckPerms – Legacy Forge is an unofficial backport that brings the full, modern LuckPerms permissions plugin to Minecraft 1.12.2 Forge servers. Upstream LuckPerms only ships official Forge support for modern Minecraft versions – this port implements a new platform module on top of LuckPerms’ own shared common codebase (the same core used by the official Bukkit, Fabric, Sponge, and Velocity platforms), so legacy 1.12.2 servers get the real thing rather than a stripped-down clone.

Full LuckPerms Core

Built directly on LuckPerms’ official common module – the same permission/group/track engine, storage backends, web editor support, and verbose/check-tracing tools as every other supported platform
Standard LuckPerms commands, tab completion, and chat formatting via a dedicated command executor and chat listener
Live join/leave handling through a dedicated connection listener that hooks player data into LuckPerms on login and cleans up on logout

Forge Permission API Bridge

Installs a custom IPermissionHandler into Forge’s own PermissionAPI, so any mod that calls PermissionAPI.hasPermission(...) – not just commands – gets answers backed by real LuckPerms data
Respects mods’ own DefaultPermissionLevel registrations (ALL/OP/NONE) as a fallback when LuckPerms has no explicit rule for a node
Registered permission nodes are surfaced in LuckPerms’ own tab completion and the web editor’s permission tree

Context Support

Built-in context calculators for game mode and dimension type (Overworld/Nether/End, with automatic naming for modded dimension IDs)
Contexts update live on dimension change and respawn, so permission checks react immediately without a relog

Legacy Forge Compatibility Engineering

Shades and relocates LuckPerms’ bundled dependencies (Adventure, its event bus, Caffeine, OkHttp/Okio, ByteBuddy, HikariCP, Configurate, SnakeYAML) to avoid classpath collisions with other mods
Automatically reobfuscates the shaded jar back to SRG names so it links correctly against 1.12.2’s obfuscated runtime – a legacy Forge-specific build step upstream LuckPerms never needs
Custom classpath appender and scheduler adapter implement the platform hooks LuckPerms’ common module expects, tailored to legacy Forge’s threading and mod-loading model
