Non-lethal feather shedding for every bird in your world, not just chickens.

Chickens Shed Reforged is a from-scratch reimplementation of the original ChickensShed concept, letting birds periodically shed a feather while alive so players never have to kill one just to restock arrows and quills. Where the original required manually configuring which entity drops which item, this version auto-detects any bird, vanilla or modded, by scanning its own loot table for a feather item at world load. No config to maintain, nothing to declare, nothing that breaks when a new bird mod is added or removed.

Lineage

This project is a full standalone rebuild inspired by ChickensShed by llumina (also on Modrinth), the mod that brought the “shed a feather instead of dying for one” idea to 1.21.1. Chickens Shed Reforged does not share code with the original and is not affiliated with its author; it’s a clean-room rewrite built to solve a persistence bug found in the original’s config system, while extending the underlying idea to any bird rather than a hand-maintained list of mobs.
