Pirates ‘n’ Ships

You lay a keel of planks in the shallows, set a Helm on her deck and use it. The blocks lift off the sand as one
ship and rock on the swell. You let out the sail, take the wheel and feel her heel into the first gust.

Build her

Build her from whatever blocks you have: an oak hull, a glass cabin, a hold stacked with crates. Use
the helm and she floats, dry below the waterline and a little deeper with every crate. Sneak at the helm and she
turns back into blocks.

Sail her

Turn her bow off the wind and the canvas fills. A squall comes up from the west, so you reef at the Sail Winch
before the gust lays her over. Hold the wheel, watch the compass and ride the swell home.

Keep her afloat

Take a cannonball below the waterline and you hear it before you see it. The sea pours into one compartment, then the
next, and she lists. Put a hand on the Bilge Pump, nail a Hull Patch over the hole, and she rights
herself, slowly.

Crew and orders

Hire hands at a harbour master’s desk and they follow you aboard. Blow the Captain’s Whistle and they run to the
winch, the pump or the guns; idle hands find work by themselves. Feed and pay them, or they remember it
at the next port.

Guns and blades

Run out the guns, load powder, then shot, and let the broadside go. The Grappling Hook hauls her alongside and you
cross with a Cutlass in hand. Her captain feints and parries: watch his blade and answer on the beat.

The coast

Follow the coast to seafarer villages, where the shipwright builds to order. Further out,
pirates guard their island camps and navy patrols hunt the wanted. On a stormy night far from land, the Kraken
finds your hull.

The Captain’s Almanac

Open the Captain’s Almanac you carry from your first day, with the recipes on its pages. Press Show me and a
little model ship acts the lesson out.

Get aboard

1. Install the mod and its dependencies on client and server.
2. Open the Almanac at “Your first ship”.
3. Lay a hull in the water, place a helm and use it.
