Friendly Fire

Meet Chispa. Chispa is not someone on fire: Chispa is the fire. A living flame with no body at all that walks beside you, wherever you go. All you will ever see are the flames, and the tool it is using floating among them.

The first time you join a world, Chispa appears and introduces itself. From then on it comes with you, also through dimensions and after you respawn.

WHAT IT DOES

Mines. Give it a pickaxe and it will mine the ores it spots near you. When it breaks an ore, the whole connected vein goes with it, up to 64 blocks at once, and everything goes straight to its inventory.

Fights. It attacks the enemies near you with whatever sword you give it. Without a sword it still fights, with weak hits that set them on fire. It never picks up what mobs drop.

Cooks. Whatever it carries that can be smelted, it cooks by itself, without fuel and as slowly as a furnace would. The whole stack changes at once at the end: 64 raw iron stay raw for 10 minutes and 40 seconds, then they are 64 ingots. It leaves tools, armor and enchanted items alone.

WORKS LIKE A PLAYER

Enchantments apply as they would for you. Fortune on a diamond gives more diamonds, Silk Touch gives the ore itself, Efficiency digs faster and Sharpness hits harder. Ores drop their experience, and its kills drop experience too. Tools wear down and can break.

ITS INVENTORY

Right-click its flames to open it: one slot for a pickaxe, one for a sword and 9 slots to keep things in. Each slot shows how far along its cooking is. Only you can open it.

IMMORTAL, UNLESS YOU SAY OTHERWISE

Chispa cannot die by default. If you turn that off and it goes out, it drops what it carried. To bring it back, light something with a flint and steel or a fire charge: a fire, a campfire, a candle, TNT or a portal.

OPTIONS

Open them in Mods, Friendly Fire, Config, or with the gear in its inventory when playing alone. On any loader you can also edit config/friendlyfire.properties.

What Chispa does: mines and fights, only mines, only fights, or only follows you.
Immortal: on or off.
Summon with fire: on or off.

The file also sets how far it looks for ores and enemies, and whether it appears by itself the first time you join a world.

GOOD TO KNOW

It only notices ores it can see. Buried ores stay hidden until the vein reaches them.
When it has no empty slot left, it stops mining and tells you.
It leaves calm endermen and piglins alone, unless they go after you or after it.
Protection mods can stop it from breaking blocks, as they would stop you.
The mod is needed on both the server and the client.

Available in English and Spanish, for Forge, NeoForge and Fabric. Fabric also needs Fabric API.
