Goety: Spellbound is an addon for Goety that expands on its magic, rituals and mobs.

The big goals for the mod are:

• Joining covens or cults through contracts
• Creating your own spells, not just predefined ones
• Casting with your bare hands, with no staff needed
• Curses, new rituals and a lot more

Here’s what’s already in.

Innate Magic

Find the Awakening Scroll in woodland mansions to learn the secret of the spellcasters. Then perform A Mind for Magic, a dangerous ritual with a skull, a block of lapis and a good sword. If you survive it, you gain innate magic and can cast any focus straight from your hand, without a staff.

Focus Studies & Spell Memory

Put a book and a focus in an anvil to start a Study on it. Each study is a set of tasks: observe a mob that casts the spell, examine its materials, travel somewhere fitting, brew, barter, meditate at a Dark Altar and more. Stronger foci mean longer studies.

Finish a study and you can learn the spell for good:

• You get one memory slot for every 10 experience levels, up to 10 spells
• Pick a spell from the focus wheel and cast it with its own key, no staff or focus needed
• Lose levels and your higher spells lock until you earn them back
• Manage your memorised spells in a Crystal Ball
• Memory isn’t perfect. Spells can slip your mind, and sometimes you’ll need to revise one

The Frost Arsenal

• Ice Wands & Scepters: Iceologers and Cryologers sometimes carry them. They cast frost spells using durability instead of Soul Energy, and you can make improvised versions through frost rituals
• Hand an improvised wand to a frost servant and they’ll turn it into the real thing. Give them a real one and their spells hit twice as hard
• Frozen Claymore: a huge two-handed blade with long reach that stuns and freezes on every hit. Its special attack is a spinning whirlwind that carries you forward, cutting through anything nearby
