Weather Improvements turns vanilla weather from a visual backdrop into a system you actually have to live with. Rain, cold, wind, and storms all have real consequences — and real warning signs if you know how to read them.

Climate & Seasons

A full calendar and seasonal cycle drives the climate over time. Rain turns to snow in the cold, and snow builds up in layers across the world. Puddles form after rain and dry out over time; icicles form in freezing conditions. Droughts can set in during hot, dry stretches — crop growth halts, plants wilt, farmland parches, and grass dries out.

Wind & Storms

Wind has direction and strength, bends rain, tilts grass, and blows leaves and debris through the air. Regional storms form, drift, mature, and dissipate independently rather than being a single global toggle. Thunderstorms can produce hail, with configurable density and burst patterns. Volumetric, ray-marched storm clouds and fog give a real sense of scale and depth as a storm rolls in.

Staying Safe

You have a body temperature, and getting wet or cold matters — dress for the weather and track your temperature with a Thermometer. A Fire Extinguisher puts out fires, which spread realistically through wood and leaves, charring and burning logs, planks, stairs, slabs, fences, and doors. Warm up with Hot Soup and Hot Cocoa, or cool off with a Cold Drink.

Forecasting Tools

Weather Vane — reads current wind direction and strength.

Weather Station — gives humidity, dew point, and a short-term precipitation forecast.

Weather Radar — a genuine multi-product radar block with reflectivity, velocity, differential reflectivity, and correlation coefficient views, storm tracking, ETAs, and lightning strike counts.

Alert Hub + Alert Transmitter — link a hub to your radar or weather station to broadcast real emergency-style alerts (advisories, watches, and warnings) for severe thunderstorms, flooding, winter storms, extreme cold, and extreme heat, complete with hazard/impact/action messaging.

Compatibility & Configuration

Built for NeoForge 1.21.1. Ships with Sodium/Embeddium-friendly mixins for rendering compatibility. Deep in-game config covering wind, snow, puddles, icicles, storms, hail, drought, fog, cloud quality/performance, HUD placement, and temperature units (°C/°F).

Everything above is tunable — if a feature is too intense (or not intense enough) for your world, there’s almost certainly a config option for it.
