Welcome to Pinewatch. 🌲

Pinewatch is a Forge 1.20.1 immersive survival-horror modpack built around one idea: what if Minecraft felt like you were actually living and working deep in the wilderness?

During the day, Pinewatch can be surprisingly peaceful. Build your ranger cabin, furnish it, cook meals, farm, fish, care for animals, explore abandoned watchtowers, set up camps and travel through enormous forests shaped by realistic terrain, changing seasons and dynamic weather.

But when the sun goes down, the forest changes.

Pinewatch isn’t designed around throwing hundreds of monsters at you every night. Instead, the horror focuses on uncertainty, stalking and atmosphere.

You might hear something moving through the trees.

You might hear knocking when nobody should be outside.

You might discover blood where there wasn’t any before.

Or you might catch something standing between the trees… watching you.

Threats such as The Knocker, The Hunter and Psychopath can turn an ordinary trip through the woods into something much worse. Sometimes the safest thing you can do is get back to the cabin, lock the door and hope whatever followed you decides to leave.

🌲 A Living Wilderness

The environment is a huge part of Pinewatch. Expanded terrain, dynamic trees, wildlife, seasons, temperature, immersive weather, rain effects, falling leaves, ambient sounds and detailed footsteps make exploring the forest feel completely different from vanilla Minecraft.

The wilderness isn’t simply the background.

It’s the main character.

🏕️ Live Like a Ranger

Pinewatch adds plenty to do when something isn’t trying to murder you.

Build and decorate detailed cabins, carry backpacks, pitch tents, use flashlights and radios, cook proper meals, farm crops, fish, butcher animals and prepare supplies before heading deeper into the wilderness.

You can establish your own ranger station and gradually turn it into somewhere that genuinely feels like home.

Which makes it considerably worse when you hear something outside.

👁️ Horror Without Constant Monster Spam

Pinewatch is intended to create tension rather than chaos.

The horror creatures are only part of the experience. Darkness, weather, distant noises, isolation and not knowing whether you’re actually safe are just as important.

A normal fishing trip can be peaceful.

A walk back to the cabin at sunset can suddenly become a race home.

And sometimes…

you aren’t the only thing walking through the forest.

👥 Solo or Multiplayer

Pinewatch can be played alone, but it was designed with small multiplayer survival adventures in mind.

Split up to gather supplies.

Communicate from different locations.

Explore abandoned structures.

Spend nights around the cabin.

And inevitably hear your friend say:

“Dude… there’s something outside.”

⚠️ BETA / EARLY DEVELOPMENT

Pinewatch is currently in beta and still under active development. Bugs, crashes, balancing issues, mod/config changes, and performance problems may occur. Features and included mods may change between versions as the pack is tested and improved.

Please back up important worlds before updating to a newer version. If you encounter a bug or compatibility issue, feel free to report it in the comments.

Pinewatch is especially being tested for multiplayer and lower-end PCs, so performance and balancing will continue to improve throughout development.
