Animal Barns

Tired of large pens full of animals causing frames to drop on your world or server? Animal Barns holds an entire population of animals within a single block.

What it does

• Craft a barn from matching wood slabs, wool, glass, and logs. The wood you use matches the roof, trim, and doors; the wool sets the wall color to mix and match to build a barn that actually fits your build.

• Craft a lasso (string + leather) to capture adult animals and carry them to your barn. Lassos hold an arbitrary number of one species to move a single animal or the whole batch at once.

• Deposit and withdraw
  • Right click to withdraw 1 animal (sneak to withdraw all)
  • Left click to deposit 1 animal (sneak to deposit all)
• Sneak near a barn for an at-a-glance overlay of what’s inside: species, count, and any active cooldown.
• Feed the whole barn at once with the species’ real breeding item to trigger a batch of vanilla-accurate pairings and instant births.
• Milking, shearing, etc. by right-clicking with a bucket or shears, same as the real animal.
• Butcher for loot
  • Attack a barn with a weapon to farm one occupant and drop its loot.

Every mechanic is built on real vanilla rules under the hood, same breeding, drop tables, and item interactions vanilla animals use, scaled to work in bulk.

Compatibility!

Multiple builds are published for this project, covering Minecraft 1.12.2 through 1.21.11 and 26.1.2. Check the Files tab for the right version and loader (NeoForge or Minecraft Forge, depending on the Minecraft version) for your setup.

Animal Barns is closed-source with one explicit carve-out: it may be included, unmodified, in modpacks (including monetized ones) with credit and a link back to this project page. See the mod’s license file for full terms.
