介绍
Cobblemon Origins Tweaks
Cobblemon tweaks from the Cobblemon Origins modpack: classic flight for your flying Pokémon, Origins Battle (a restyled battle screen with a battle log, move tooltips and spectator fixes), the looks of the official server’s shiny tiers, and a fix for Pokémon built on the client on multiplayer servers.
Replaces Cobblemon Classic Flight (remove that mod when you install this one). Made for the Cobblemon Origins – Road to Champion modpack, and works in any Cobblemon 1.8.x setup from Cobblemon 1.8.4 on (1.8.4 or any later 1.8.x).
Classic flight
Cobblemon 1.8 flies bird and jet mounts with roll-based controls: the mouse rolls and pitches your Pokémon like a plane. This mod replaces that with classic flight for every player: your Pokémon goes where you look, Space takes you up, Shift takes you down, and the camera never rolls.
Controls
| Input | Action |
|---|---|
| W / A / S / D | Fly forward, left, back, right, level and relative to where you are looking |
| Space | Ascend |
| Shift (sneak) | Descend |
| Sprint key (Left Ctrl) + W, or double-tap W | Sprint: 50% faster forward flight, wider FOV, uses stamina |
| Mouse | Normal mouse look. Your Pokémon turns to face where you look |
| Double-tap Space on the ground | Take off: your Pokémon lifts off the ground, hold Space to keep climbing |
| Fly down onto the ground | Land and switch back to walking (same as Cobblemon) |
- Only Space and Shift change altitude. Looking up or down while pressing W keeps you level.
- No drift: with no keys held your Pokémon hovers in place and holds its altitude exactly. Letting go of the keys brakes to a hover within a fraction of a second.
- No roll and no pitch: the horizon stays flat. When you strafe with A or D your Pokémon leans slightly into the movement (up to 12°) and you lean with it. This is only visual: the camera and the flight path never tilt.
- Climbing and descending run at half of the Pokémon’s top speed. No altitude ceiling.
- Idle in the air plays the hover animation, moving plays the flying animation.
Stamina and sprint
- Normal flight is free: it never uses stamina and never forces you down.
- Sprinting only pays for the extra speed above normal flight: speeding up to normal speed is free, and a full bar lasts 6 to 8 seconds of full sprint depending on the Pokémon’s AIR STAMINA stat (about 7 seconds for a Charizard with base ride stats).
- When the bar runs empty the sprint stops and you keep flying at normal speed. Sprinting unlocks again once the bar has refilled, which takes about 2 seconds of not sprinting.
- The sprint FOV effect follows Minecraft’s “FOV Effects” accessibility slider (0% turns it off).
- The server option
infiniteRideStaminagives unlimited sprint.
What changes
- Every species that uses Cobblemon’s
birdorjetflight style now uses classic flight. This covers Cobblemon’s own flyers (Charizard, Pidgeot, Dragonite, Togekiss, the legendary birds and more), Mega Showdown’s flyers, and any other datapack or addon that uses those two styles. No data is edited. - Top speed comes from each Pokémon’s AIR SPEED ride stat, mapped exactly like Cobblemon’s bird flight (4 to 20 blocks per second), so flyers stay about as fast as before. A Charizard with base ride stats flies at 8.8 blocks per second (13.2 sprinting), up to 14.4 (21.6) when its SPEED is fully boosted.
- Acceleration and turning use Cobblemon’s hover settings.
- All other riding styles (hover, rocket, glider, land and water mounts) are untouched.
Client-built Pokémon fix (client)
On a multiplayer server, Cobblemon never sends its moveset builder data to clients. Any client code that builds a Pokémon on the client, for example to work out a move tooltip, then fails with Unknown MovesetBuilder id: cobblemon:wild, and the log fills with stack traces every frame. This mod gives those client-built Pokémon a placeholder move set instead, the same way Cobblemon already treats Pokémon it receives from the server. Nothing changes in single player or on the server.
Shiny tiers (client)
On the official Cobblemon Origins server every shiny Pokémon has a tier that it keeps forever: Standard, Radiant, Prismatic or Cosmic. Most shinies are Standard; Radiant is uncommon, Prismatic rare and Cosmic very rare (80 / 12 / 6 / 2 out of 100). The server decides the tier once, when the Pokémon becomes shiny; this mod draws it:
- Radiant: a gold coat (platinum when the shiny is already gold or yellow), an enchantment glint and a soft gold glow.
- Prismatic: a shifting aurora coat (teal, violet, pink, pale gold) with twinkling rainbow flecks, glint, a rainbow glow and rainbow sparkles.
- Cosmic: a galaxy coat with a swirling teal and magenta nebula and twinkling stars, glint, a drifting violet glow, stars orbiting the Pokémon and the occasional comet.
- Standard looks like a normal shiny.
The tier looks show everywhere the Pokémon’s model is drawn: in the world, in battle, on send-out, in the party bar, summary, PC and trade screens, in every form (mega, gigantamax, regional, tera and more), including glowing and see-through body parts such as Ho-Oh’s feathers or Chandelure’s flames. Glow, sparkles and orbiting stars appear in the world only and follow your Particles setting (Minimal turns them off, Decreased halves them). The summary, PC and trade screens show the tier name next to the shiny star, and the party bar and PC boxes show a small colored dot for Radiant, Prismatic and Cosmic Pokémon.
With Xaero’s Minimap 26.x and a Pokémon icon pack such as E19 Cobblemon Minimap Icons, tiered shinies keep their icon on the minimap, recolored in their tier look with a glow in the tier color. A few Pokémon forms the icon pack has no icon for (seasonal Eeveelutions, cosplay and gigantamax Pikachu with the Alola bias, Zygarde 10%, red Passimian and others) borrow the icon of their closest form.
The textures are generated on your computer from each Pokémon’s own shiny texture, so every Pokémon (including add-on species) gets the looks without extra downloads. In single player and on other servers shinies have no tier and look as usual. A player without this mod on the official server simply sees normal shinies.
Origins Battle (client, server for spectating)
Origins Battle is the battle screen of the Cobblemon Origins modpack, built into this mod. It restyles Cobblemon’s battle screen in the Origins theme and adds the tools players asked for. It replaces Cobblemon Battle Extras, which is marked as incompatible: remove Battle Extras when you install this version.
- Battle HUD: a field bar (weather, terrain, trick room, screens and hazards), stat chips, a row of the real Poké Balls of each team, an EXP bar and Pokémon nameplates.
- Battle log panel (on by default): turn separators, YOU / FOE labels, damage percentages, XP gained, ability popups and hover links on moves and abilities. Press J to open the Full log. Saved logs and a history screen are available (off by default).
- Move tooltips with type effectiveness and a damage estimate, a switch matchup view and target effectiveness chips.
- Keyboard and gamepad navigation of the battle menus.
- Animation speed 1x, 2x or 4x (4x by default), with a speed button in the battle screen. It only speeds up your own or a spectated battle.
- Spectator fixes: correct sides, faints and switch lines, and spectating ends cleanly when you move out of range, disconnect or start your own battle.
Open the config screen through Mod Menu (Mods, Cobblemon Origins Tweaks, then the config button). It has three profiles and a switch for every feature. Install the mod on the server as well to get the spectator fixes, the battle state the HUD shows about the opponent (stat stages, field effects, side chips) and the server’s battle turn speed. On a server without it you still get the restyled screen and everything the client can work out itself.
What’s New screen (client, for modpack authors)
A modpack can show its changelog once after each update. Ship config/cobblemon_origins_tweaks/whats_new.json in the pack:
{
"id": "2.0.3",
"title": "Cobblemon Origins 2.0.3",
"sections": [
{ "heading": "Origins Battle", "lines": ["- A bullet", "A plain paragraph", "", "&aColored &lbold&r text"] }
]
}
idis the changelog version. The screen opens the first time the player joins a world (singleplayer or a server) with anidthey have not seen yet, so change it with every release. The seen id is kept inconfig/cobblemon_origins_tweaks/whats_new_seen.txt, which a pack update must not overwrite.- A line starting with
-is a bullet, an empty line is a spacer, anything else is a paragraph.&color and format codes (&a,&e,&l,&r…) work. Long lines wrap. - Limits: 64 sections, 200 lines per section, 400 characters per line (longer lines are cut with an ellipsis).
titleand a section’sheadingare optional. - No file does nothing. An invalid file (bad JSON, no
id, no sections) logs one warning and is ignored. - Players can reopen it any time with the client command
/whatsnew.
Requirements
- Minecraft 1.21.1, Fabric Loader 0.16 or newer
- Cobblemon 1.8.4 or any later 1.8.x (older versions of this mod also run on 1.8.2 and 1.8.3; version 1.0.0 is for Cobblemon 1.8.1)
- Fabric Language Kotlin (Cobblemon already needs it)
- Fabric API 0.116.17 or newer
Install it on the server and on every client that plays there. The server turns bird and jet flight into classic flight and sends that to its players, so a client without the mod cannot join a server that has it, and the server and its clients must run the same version of this mod. A client with the mod can still join servers without it and gets Cobblemon’s normal flight there. For single player, installing it on the client is enough.
Compatibility
- Mega Showdown: its bird and jet flyers (Mega Charizard X and Y, Rayquaza, Reshiram, Zekrom, Yveltal, Lunala, Koraidon, Miraidon, Kyurem forms, the Forces of Nature and others) fly with classic controls too.
- Works with any species data that uses
cobblemon:air/birdorcobblemon:air/jet.
Known limitations
- Jet species use the bird speed and stamina ranges, so their maximum top speed (before sprinting) is 20 blocks per second instead of the jet style’s 24.
- Bird gliding, dive speed boosts and wall-collision damage are gone with the roll controls.
- Cobblemon’s on-screen ride hints (when enabled in Cobblemon’s config) show the generic layout for classic flight: mouse, WASD, Space and Shift.
Switching flight style
Classic flight is the default. Each player can switch for themselves with the client command /flightstyle classic or /flightstyle cobblemon (Cobblemon’s own bird and jet flight, with roll) while not riding; the new style applies to Pokémon sent out afterwards. /flightstyle on its own shows the current style. The choice is saved in config/cobblemon_origins_tweaks.json.
