Once Upon A Time . . .

. . . There was great magic, the greatest wonder of the world, the one thing many villages and towns often encountered, daily and nightly. The wizards visited often to show off their great power, some rising to lead whole kingdoms. The wizards were the guardians of the well-being of mankind, protecting people from great beasts that flew high in the sky and lived deep underground, creatures that emerged from the forests, monsters great and small. 

 For many a century, the wizards reigned as some of the highest respected beings in society, along with dragonslayers, dragon tamers, heroes, warriors, warlocks, sorcerers, and royalty alike. Then, wars began. Evil began to spread throughout the land, sickness, and darkness spread to the farthest reaches of the world, villages were under siege, the illagers rose, wars broke out, the darkness spread to even the wizards. Some wizards, tainted by the darkness, refused to remain loyal to their fellow man, becoming corrupted souls. They destroyed the balance that was held for so long. Soon, all would be consumed. Then one day, magic ceased to exist. Wizards, warlocks, sorcerers, mages, and witches alike wondered what had happened. Some said that magic left because there were those who’d used it for evil. For years and years, magic was mourned and magic users started to lose hope that magic would ever come back. Some became like the witches, practicing alchemy to get some semblance of what they lost back. Some turned to other means of doing things, like using dragons and other creatures with magic-like abilities to feel somewhat powerful again. Then, many years later, all the wizards faded to obscurity, seemingly never to be heard from again.

Then, one day someone decided they’d had enough tedium. They tried to make their own magic, using a couple of ores they had discovered, that hadn’t ever been seen before: copper and zinc. The being then harnessed the current of the rivers, the flow of the air, and the heat from the fiery demons who resided in the depths of heck, to make great contraptions and gadgets, to make many things like farming, mining, and crafting easier for everyone.

The being had been working hard then discovered a mysterious book that was hidden deep in the caves, in the hands of an old skeleton covered in cobwebs and dust and . . . was that a robe? He then discovered the secret that would change the world forever. 

Will you rise to the occasion and Create? Or will you take the nouveau route? Or will you bridge them both and Create a nouveau world?

Visit many temples and take on the great towers, said to have risen from a time long forgotten, and rise to the top and tame the great dragons that slumber beneath your feet.
