Chop trees the real way: notch, back-cut and watch them fall with full Sable physics.

Trees don’t just pop into items anymore. You cut them down like a real lumberjack, and they fall for real, with full Sable physics.
Hit the trunk on the side you want it to fall. A wedge is cut into the log, facing you.
Hit it again from the opposite side. The tree leans, cracks and comes down toward the notch.
Notch both front logs, strike the front again to deepen the cut, then finish from behind.
Logs you placed yourself are never touched, so your builds are safe.
- Domino effect: a falling tree knocks down its smaller neighbors.
- Canopy inertia: leaves burst off with the tree’s momentum, dropping saplings, sticks and apples.
- Snapping wood: heavy branches break off on impact, and sometimes the whole trunk does.
- Watch your head: a falling tree hits as hard as it’s heavy.
- Rivers and TNT: logs float and you can stand on them; explosions launch trees.
Prefer just the wood? Set Fallen trees to BREAK in the config, and every tree breaks into its logs and leaf drops a moment after it lands.
The stump stays, roots and all. It’s hard to pull out, and the ground under it holds until you dig the roots out with a shovel.
Right-click a stump with an axe to level it. Put a log on top and split it into extra planks.
Left alone, most stumps slowly rot into a mossy stump that drops bone meal and mushrooms. Some grow a new tree instead.
Felled trees darken and decompose after 12 real hours, so physics objects don’t pile up. Wax one with honeycomb to keep it forever.
Aim at a log of a fallen tree and hold right-click to drag it until you let go.

- Bountiful Fares (built in): fruit trees, walnut, hoary and palm trees fall, rot and regrow with their own wood, and the hanging fruit and coconuts come down with them.
- Dynamic Trees: supported through the separate Sable Trees: Dynamic Trees Compat add-on.
- Trees from other mods work if they use the standard log and leaf tags. Modpacks can add more with the block tags
sabletrees:tree_attachmentsandsabletrees:tree_foliage. - Create and Create Aeronautics: the mechanical saw cuts fallen trees, all at once or block by block like a sawmill (see the Saw on fallen trees option).
- Farmer’s Delight: the chopping block also works as a cutting board, with Farmer’s Delight’s own recipes. After 32 food cuts it gets too dirty for food, but it can still split logs.
- Other Sable and Create add-ons: the physics run on Sable, so add-ons that change how heavy blocks are or how they float can change how fallen trees float and knock each other over. Snapping branches and fall damage always use Sable Trees’ own values.
