Hexerei Patch

A small client-side compatibility fix for Hexerei (by JoeFoxe) that resolves a startup crash caused by a config-loading race condition.

The problem: Hexerei’s client tick handler reads one of its own config values (the font list) on the very first game tick, without checking whether NeoForge has actually finished loading Hexerei’s config file yet. Depending on load timing, which can shift based on your overall mod list, this can throw an IllegalStateException: Cannot get config value before config is loaded and crash the game during startup.

The fix: wraps that config read in a check, so if the config isn’t ready yet, it simply retries on the next tick instead of crashing.

Requirements:

• Hexerei 0.5+ (required; this patch does nothing without it)
• NeoForge, Minecraft 1.21.1

Note: This is an independent client side compatibility patch, not affiliated with the Hexerei mod author. Hexerei appears to no longer be actively maintained, so this patch exists to keep it usable on current setups.
