Spellbound – Legacy Version

This is a remake of WildBamaBoy’s Spellbound Mod. I really liked that mod and was sad it was left at 1.6, so here it is!

Q: What does this mod do?

A: This mod adds in over 40 funny spells for you to use. The effects are wide-spreaded, including a temporary bedrock wall, changing weather, lightning strikes hitting anything nearby, or randomly dyeing sheep. The spells can be crafted with vanilla materials and tablets. These tablets are crafted from clay and magic mushrooms. Magic mushrooms are created from vanilla mushrooms and iron/gold and can be bred for new mushroom types, that are required to craft certain tablet types.

Q: What has changed from the 1.6 version?

A: Three spells (Grease, Meteor, Transport) have been removed entirely. The Book of Spells (the mod’s guide book) is now an optional feature that is only present if the Patchouli mod is present, it is highly recommended if you don’t know the mod already. Minor changes have also been applied to the mushroom genetics and to the effects of some spells.

Q: How do I get started?

A: Install Patchouli and craft the Book of Spells, it explains things better than I could.

Q: I found a bug!

A: I am far from perfect, so this is something I expect to happen. Please go to the GitHub issue tracker and check if a bug report regarding the same bug has already been created. If there is none yet, feel free to open a new one!

Q: This whole spell system seems overpowered!

A: It is not. As in the old version, there are surges. Surges are side effects of spellcasting that occur randomly (with a 0.5 % chance). They include setting you on fire and giving you weakness, with configuration allowing for even more effects. There is a way to get around this, however, it is quite expensive and not permanent.

Q: Will this mod be ported to <insert older version here>?

A: No.

Q: Will this mod be ported to <insert newer version here>?

A: As soon as I have the time: yes.

This is a Forge mod. I will NOT support Fabric or other mod loaders. I will not backport to older versions, but I will port to newer versions as soon as I find the time.
