Emoji and font support for 1.7.10 Minecraft. Custom packs, server packs, animated custom emojis, picker, autocomplete, multiplayer sharing, and emoji fonts.
This mod bundles HarfBuzz for font shaping and rendering, with Java font parsers as a fallback. The default emoji font uses Twemoji.

Install AngelLib 1.0.0 or newer alongside Minemoticon, including when using the bundled JAR.

Building

./gradlew build

The native HarfBuzz library (with libpng and zlib) is built automatically as part of build, leveraging the zig compiler.

If you cloned without submodules, initialize them first:

git submodule update --init --checkout

The HarfBuzz, libpng and zlib tags are pinned in native/sync-natives.sh, the Zig version in dependencies.gradle.
After changing a tag, run:

./gradlew syncNativeSubmodules

To update the bundled emoji data and font:

./update-emoji-data.sh
