3×3 tools (made of netherite, diamond, or iron): holding Shift allows them to mine in 1×1 mode, while normal use mines in 3×3 mode. There are also massive versions of these tools, specifically a 5×5 shovel and a 5×5 hammer (sledgehammer). Following the 2.0.0 update, diamond and netherite gloves were added but delete in 2.2.3; these allow standard tools to be used over a larger area, ranging from 3×3 to 5×5.
