Vanilla-scale furniture and structural accents for every wood type.

Wooden Accents is a building and decoration mod focused on adding the kinds of wooden blocks I kept wishing Minecraft had while building.

I like working with vanilla blocks, but sometimes a chair should just look like a chair, a support beam shouldn’t require three layers of trapdoors, and having a few more shapes to work with can make a huge difference when you’re trying to get a build to look right.

The goal isn’t really to push one specific furniture style or completely change how Minecraft looks. Wooden Accents is meant to give you more pieces to build with while still fitting reasonably well alongside vanilla.

What’s Included?

Wooden Accents adds a mix of furniture, storage, and structural blocks, with variants for the vanilla wood types available to the mod.

Furniture

Chairs you can actually sit in
Tables
Coffee tables
Desks
Kitchen counters
Kitchen cabinets
Narrow bookshelves

Coffee tables can also be stacked into a taller version, so they can be used for more than just coffee tables. If you want to pick the tall version back up as-is, you can use Silk Touch.

Narrow bookshelves work like vanilla chiseled bookshelves, so you can put books in them instead of just using them as decoration.

Crates are basically my take on smaller wooden portable storage. They keep their contents when broken, and crates with matching contents can still stack as items. Desk drawers and kitchen cabinets offer more storage and drop their contents when broken.

Bracket shelves can store and display up to three stacks of items directly on the shelf. Multiple shelves connect together visually, and powered shelves can swap their contents with parts of your hotbar. They also support comparator output and hopper interaction.

So yes, you can absolutely just use them to put some items on a shelf. I may have gotten slightly carried away after that, but I was inspired by Vanilla shelves.

Building & Structural Blocks

Stripped wood ladders
Plank ladders
Plank flooring

Picket fences
Picket fence gates
Support beams
Thin pillars
Thick pillars

The stripped wood ladders are 3D ladders that connect vertically, while plank ladders are a simpler design that basically looks like somebody nailed a few planks to the wall.

Support beams can connect in every direction and are useful for framing builds or adding exposed structural details. Visually, they’re kind of like the wooden pipes you see in some mods, except they’re just featureless structural pieces rather than actual pipes.

The thin and thick pillars are basically another option for vertical supports, and they automatically connect with matching pillars above and below.

Every Wood Type

Pretty much every block family has variants for the vanilla wood types available to the mod, including the overworld woods, bamboo, crimson, and warped.

Compatibility

Wooden Accents has Fabric and NeoForge builds for both clients and dedicated servers.

Check the download page for supported Minecraft versions and the Java version they need.

Required Dependencies

VoxLib for your loader
Fabric: Fabric API and Fabric Language Kotlin
NeoForge: Kotlin for Forge

Use versions that match the Wooden Accents file you’re installing. If you’re installing through the Modrinth App, it should handle these dependencies for you anyway.

Recommended Mods

Wooden Accents doesn’t require these, but they make a few parts of the mod nicer to use:

Shulker Box Tooltip or Easy Shulker Boxes for previewing crate inventories
Just Enough Items or Roughly Enough Items for looking up recipes

Version Support & What’s Next

The download page has the current releases and older builds for existing worlds. The roadmap has my current ideas for future updates.

I don’t plan to maintain many active Minecraft versions at once. Once development moves forward, older versions will stay available and receive only important fixes.

The roadmap is intentionally more of a direction than a promise. Plans tend to change once I actually start implementing them.

I’d rather have one current version that feels finished than several half-maintained versions.

AI Usage

Wooden Accents was originally created and developed by me without generative AI. More recent development has included AI-assisted tools for parts of the code, testing, debugging, refactoring, documentation, and other development work.

AI is still just a development tool for me. I decide what gets added or changed, direct the implementation, review and test the results, and redo or reject things when they don’t turn out how I want.

The majority of this codebase is still code written by hand by me.
