Solace is a hand-built stylized shader pack that paints Minecraft in warm, soft light. It favours mood over realism, with glowing meadows, bright clear water and slow, colourful skies.
- Soft smooth lighting in a clear, cool painted look: neutral sunlit faces and deep blue-teal shade instead of black shadows
- Light rays and soft bloom filtering through tree canopies
- A world in the wind: grass, flowers, crops, leaves, vines, bamboo, sugar cane, lily pads, cobwebs and hanging lanterns sway with the breeze, and gusts roll across meadows as soft silvery waves
- Glowing light sources: torches, lanterns, candles, glow berries, glow lichen, furnaces, redstone, soul fire and copper lanterns glow and tint their surroundings in their own colour
- Warm light, calm nights: torches, lanterns and fire cast a saturated orange glow, nights and rain sink into a calm deep navy, the moon paints a faint silver rim on characters, and fireflies drift over the meadows
- Golden hours: leaves and grass glow gold-green against the low sun, with dappled sunlight under the trees and drifting leaves and cherry petals
- Pale blue distance: far land fades softly into a clear pale blue, with calm mist lying in valleys
- Big soft clouds and a glowing sun: large painted cumulus, a bright sun glare with soft streaks, and calm weather moods for rain, snow and sandstorms
- Bright stylized water with soft painted highlights on sunlit wave tops, gentle drifting sparkles, wet shores and soft reflections
- Moon glint across the water at night
- Optional outlines (off by default) and many effects with their own on/off switch or strength slider
- Low / Medium / High profiles and detailed settings
- Install Fabric, Sodium and Iris for Minecraft 26.3.
- Drop the Solace
.zipinto.minecraft/shaderpacks/(don’t unzip). - Select Solace Shaders under Options → Video Settings → Shader Packs.
- Pick a profile in Shader Pack Settings.
Compatibility: Minecraft 26.3 · Iris 1.11.7 + Sodium ✅ · Bobby ✅ recommended · Voxy ✅ supported (far LOD land and water get the same cel look) · Distant Horizons ⚠️ not recommended yet · OptiFine not tested · tested on one GPU system so far.
Known issues: foam on narrow streams can look strong.
My FPS is low. What helps?
Use the Low or Medium profile, turn off light rays or shadows, and use Bobby instead of a huge render distance.
Do I need Whimscape?
No. Solace works with vanilla textures and any pack; Whimscape just matches the style.
Can I use it in videos or modpacks?
Videos and screenshots, including monetized ones: yes, a link back is appreciated. Modpacks: link to this page, don’t include the file.
